MAKE SPACE FOR
YOUR WRITING
Do you long for extended time to write? An essential component of Writing the Wise Way Home is to commit to regular time away to write without distraction.
Write the Wise Way Home writing workshops and retreats give you the gift of quiet time and stillness to write, read, and rest. The powerful combination of sitting meditation, slow walking, writing practice, deep reading, and yoga nidra help you dive beneath your discursive mind and into the belly of your work.
Gather with a nonjudgmental group of wisdom writers who are committed to a middle path combining: mindfulness practices with literary study, commitment to loved ones with commitment to self.
You’ll leave rested, peaceful, and re-engaged with your writing.

FOUNDER/CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF THE WRITING BARN
POETRY IS THE NEW CHICKEN SOUP: feeding THE WRITER’s mind and heart
When
Where
Online, Via Zoom
This spring you may feel like one of those new buds emerging
on the trees outside your window, still tender, still green.
You’re in that in-between place, post-vaccination,
slowly moving into the world,
but mostly still squirreled away at home.
You are ready to see friends, hungry for a good hug.
And at the same time, you want to maintain the sanctuary
you’ve built during lockdown.
Not to mention, you’re still trying to discern what is safe.
I used to joke that if I put my kid outside in the sun,
gave her some snacks and a sippy-cup full of water,
like a plant, she’d grow overnight.
As you move into the light of this new
post-vaccination phase of the pandemic,
what will feed you and your writing?
On May 8th, one day before we pay tribute
to the joys and sorrows motherhood,
why not take the day to nurture yourself,
to let some of those buds bloom?
Brew up a pot of chicken soup — I’ll share my recipe —
and instead of feeding the world, feed yourself.
We’ll sit meditation to quiet the mind,
review writing practice to dive deep.
You’ll learn to read poetry as a practice.
to digest form and to linger in language.
And we’ll give into a good Yoga nidra nap
(courtesy of poet and yogini, Allyson Whipple).
We’ll close our eyes, lay down on our mats,
and explore the parameters of this new hybrid world together.
Safe in our own spaces, we’ll meet via Zoom,
and as well, spend some time looking away from the computer.
All levels of writers are welcome.
FULL-DAY RETREAT – $225
Includes my personal chicken soup recipe, free access to the Heroine’s Journey Home for Writers e-course, including the two twenty-minute coaching coaching sessions, valued at $300.
Take the day to nurture the writer within. Read, rest, and write your way home.
